THIRD SCHOOL-BASED BADMINTON CLUB FORMED

The Federation has formed a school-based club in collaboration with the Tangmachu Central School. This marks the third school-based badminton club formed by the federation in the country.

The launch of the new club was marked by a special ceremony held at the Tangmachu School on Monday, 3rd April 2023. The ceremony began with a welcome speech by the school principal in the morning and followed by a cultural dance performance by the badminton club students.

The Development Manager of the Bhutan Badminton Federation also addressed the importance of promoting badminton sports among the youth and the role of building a healthy and active lifestyle.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the school and the Bhutan Badminton Federation, formalizing the collaboration between the two organizations. This was followed by the presentation of badminton equipment (15 rackets, 10 barrels of shuttlecocks, and one net) from the federation to the school, which will be used by the students to train and develop their skills.

To promote gender equality and empowerment, a special exhibition match was organized featuring talented ladies who showcased their skills on the court. This was followed by another exhibition match, this time featuring the students of the new badminton club, who were eager to demonstrate their skills and passion for the sport.

The ceremony concluded with a group photo session with students and officials from both the school and the Bhutan Badminton Federation posing together for a memorable picture.

The launch of the school base club is a significant step towards promoting the sport of badminton among the youth of Bhutan. It is hoped that this initiative will encourage more students to take up badminton and develop their skills, while also promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among the youth of the country.
