The Mixed Team Events at the Badminton Asia South Asia Regional Junior Championships 2022 have completed today in Guwahati, Assam, India. The mixed team competitions got underway on 26th and 27th September 2022. Bhutan’s team competed in the Under 17 and Under 15 age categories. Bhutan contested against athletes from India, Nepal, Maldives, and Sri Lanka in the league match. Each nation played four rounds, with five categories— Boy’s Singles (BS), Girl’s Singles (GS), Boy’s Doubles (BD), Girl’s Doubles (GD) and Mixed Double (XD) — in each round.
On September 26, 2022, Bhutan took on Sri Lankan players in the intriguing Under-17 match. Sri Lanka won 5–0. India defeated Bhutan by a score of 5 – 0 the same day. Maldives defeated the Bhutan in the final match of the day by 3–2. The final round was contested between Bhutan and Nepal the next day, on September 27, 2022. Nepal triumphed 5–0.
Powerhouse India took first place in the league, followed by Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives and finally Bhutan.
Bhutan’s first match in the Under 15 category was against India on September 26, 2022. India won 5–0. Nepal defeated Bhutan by a score of 5 – 0 on the same day. The Maldives and Bhutan battled it out for the bronze medal the next day in a tight match. Maldives triumphed 5–0. Sri Lanka defeated Bhutan in the final match by a score of 5 – 0.
India finished first overall in the league round, followed by Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives, and Bhutan.
Bhutan will now compete in individual events starting from September 28, 2022. The individual events comprise of GS, BD, GD, and XD. All the country will compete in a knockout round for first, second, and third place.
